      Pros

      The Broad is an exciting place to work because of all of the incredible discoveries that are going on. It is a well-funded research institute, and its unique position as part of MIT and Harvard puts you in contact with the world's leading scientists. Pay decent, benefits are excellent.

      Cons

      While the party line is that the Broad is an extremely collaborative place, that is not always the case.

      Pros

      I am constantly challenged to learn new things - both techniques in software engineering and cutting-edge genomic science. Management treats me like a grown-up, trusting me to do what needs to be done without micromanaging, yet is clear in stating requirements. Genomics is one of knowledge's frontiers in our time. I consider it a privilege to participate in the adventure of exploring this new frontier.

      Cons

      The human resources department at The Broad never fails to disappoint me by their callous and short-sighted treatment of uniquely talented and essentially irreplaceable colleagues.
