      "too many Chiefs and not enough Indians"

      Pros

      A great support group of associates when experiencing stress on the job. And some stand-out, but few, amazing supervisors.

      Cons

      It is agreed among associates at the Home Depot Canada that there are "too many Chiefs and not enough Indians". They do not have the bodies to fill the sales floor and provide customers with the satisfaction they seek and have seen in popular media advertising. Instead, the many on duty managers and supervisors are too preoccupied by their store phones and blackberries to ease the congestion of customer dissatisfaction.

      Pros

      Opportunities for advancement within the company. I started as a PT cashier and was promoted multiple times to a Specialty Supervisor. Now I am training for an Assistant Manager Position. I was fast tracked and sent on a trip to Toronto for training. Ultimately, if you work hard the company will support you and help you advance.

      Cons

      It's retail. Sometimes it is hard to have a life when you are working an ever changing schedule.

      Pros

      Friendly co-workers and management, interesting environment with lots to learn and do, most customers are knowledgeable before coming into the store so that helps with areas you are not familiar with

      Cons

      There is not much room for growth within positions and pay scale, unless you are willing to work part-time for several years. That is difficult to do in today's economy.
