Pros

Excellent professional development environment. I work with some of the best people around. We have a strong work-life balance (though I know that's not the case for every position), and a real sense of commitment to a mission.

Cons

It can be a little bureaucratic. In some salaried positions, pressure can be intense.

Pros

Staff at The Nature Conservancy create a collaborative and intellectually stimulating workplace. Often, people describe the pull of the organization as the mission, however, the people are its true treasure.

Cons

Each operating unit has its own culture (a potential pro and con). The conservation industry is changing rapidly and The Nature Conservancy, like many others, is trying to stake out the next generation's territory.
