Good employer, but access to all the opportunities depends on your manager

Pros

Great benefits, superb professional development, very smart colleagues, great place to learn specific skills (eg fundraising), great name (ie company reputation) that can help your career

Cons

Access to professional development is entirely dependent on your manager, can be very bureaucratic, mission alignment with so many people working in different places is hard so sometimes it's hard to know what your efforts are accomplishing

Good while it lasted.

Pros

It was a very fun job, that I loved while it lasted. Good benefits if you have a permanent position. Other employees tend to be supportive and enthusiastic.

Cons

No advancement potential. Low, low pay. Sometimes long hours without compensation. I had a permanent position with them for several years, but was laid off among many others. I then took a temporary position with them. During the time I worked there it seemed like resources were being directed more into marketing and philanthropy, and away from biodiversity science.

Great Cause

Pros

Nice, smart employees who all believe in the companies mission. Great to do work for which you feel you've contributed to the greater good at the end of the day.

Cons

As is typical of many non-profits, TNC is behind the curve in their systems and strategies in some of the business units. Change is frustratingly slow there. Very bureaucratic. Tout a 7 hour work day which I guess is supposed to balance the low salaries. While there are plenty of 9-to-5ers, you have no such luxury in Marketing, where work-life balance is difficult.
