Pros

Lovely colleagues and strong opportunities to do meaningful work we believe in. Good benefits and fair pay for a nonprofit.

Cons

Leadership opportunities are limited, and promotions are not typically attainable through strong performance alone. In practice, advancement usually depends on a new role opening up—and even then, senior positions are often filled by external candidates.

Pros

Colleagues are intelligent, truly dedicated to conservation, and most are strong collaborators. Salaries are competitive. Strong work-life balance with Nature Fridays (off every Friday).

Cons

Leadership is hit or miss. Some managers lack basic core competencies, and professional development only happens if you are well-liked by the hiring manager. Lots of microaggressions. Some colleagues have been there for many years (10+), but they really seem to be coasting in their careers. This could be a pro because it's a great workplace to work until retirement, but it does give old guard.
