Hands on work experience. Interesting tasks and projects. Position related to field of discipline. Allows you to grow in your expertise. Large university provides advancement through other departments.

Cons

Poor benefits and pay for temporary/contract employees. Undervalued equity in department with too much dependence on my position. Poor balance of work and personal life. Bias management based on age, race/ethnicity, and position.

I work in ISE department. HR of this department is not so professional, and tend to blame other people for her fault. Accounting department is not so professional either. They frequently blame the system and charge unreasonable fee to students and employees.
