Pros

Opportunities to grow, encouraging and resourceful leadership that tries to live up to Equity and Justice values. Company invests money and time to emphasis importance of recognizing biases (racial, class, gender, etc) and training staff to recruit based on overcoming those biases. Leadership is accountable, can be hilarious sometimes, and human (warts and all).

Cons

Its 100% remote work, can be lonely or tedious but leadership encourages creativity and allows time for coworkers to get to know each other.

Hi, thanks so much for writing a review. I'm glad you've enjoyed your time on the recruitment team (and thanks for your work). I agree that remote work can be lonely at times, hopefully we can get an in person training together soon!

Pros

Org has an incredible commitment to equity! Best working environment I have ever experienced. Great managers and great staff!

Cons

During political campaign season you can work 50-70 hours a week! Not a lot of job security.

Hi, thanks for leaving a review! We say often, (as I'm sure you know) that in this work we can only be as good as the people we have working for us. That's why we put such an emphasis on hiring good people and treating them well. With that in mind, it is still campaign work and comes with incredibly busy seasons and slower seasons. However, we are working to make that reality less daunting by setting up our alumni with a jobs listserv and keeping them connected to our ever growing work.

Pros

The Outreach Team is legitimately dedicated to promoting social and economic justice. My colleagues are passionate about social justice, and I've always felt respected here as both a part time canvasser and in full-time professional roles. It is rare to find a workplace that has a bail fund for racial justice protestors as well as a policy of unlimited time off (except around election time). Campaign work is often brutal and hierarchical. The Outreach Team is neither of these things, though it does recognize and respect hard work.

Cons

Sometimes the non-hierarchical nature of the firm can lead to confusion over roles and responsibilities, especially in virtual workspaces. But all my team members seem genuinely committed to resolving these occasional hiccups when they arise.

Hi! One of our goals is changing the nature of what canvassing jobs can be, precisely because of the reasons you bring up. Thanks for recognizing that work and being a part of it! (oh, and thanks for leaving a review)
