Pros

Self-driven autonomous work with lots of warm leads. The job is really fun and doesn’t feel like work when you build a good rapport with consignors. Visiting with high profile people in beautiful homes is fascinating . Great for people who are genuinely interested in getting to know their community. Good comp if you are good at sales.

Cons

People get fussy if their items sell too low, You have to field complaints which can be distracting when you are tasked with procuring supply. Need a thick skin and positive mental attitude to handle some of the negative feedback.

An extremely easy job in nature, this role used to be filled with fashionistas with fashion backgrounds, then they turned it into an entry level job so anyone can do it. Everyone’s new here, it’s a revolving door. There’s always new energy!

Cons

Ugh where do I begin… 1. you have to be really resilient to stay in this job for more than 6 months. 2. Manager will micromanage you because their managers are micromanaging them. 3. There’s no internal growth and don’t expect to move laterally either. 4. a lot of people are unhappy in the role and there are a lot of back stabbers 5. Be careful what you say to others. Retaliation happens. (It may not happen but sometimes it does… ) 6. Don’t get into this job just because you want a job in fashion. This is a sales position so unless you’re ready to head in that direction for your next career step, it’s good to think it through
