Where do I start? Well in my experience I had an area manager that was okay with skirting the rules to get a sale, but beware because you will get fired for doing so, as I did. They don’t tell you everything up front and then will fire you for not knowing. They micromanage you on this Work Chat, which is a hostile environment created to belittle people and brag about sales. It’s honestly more toxic than any group chat you’ve ever been in. The manager provide no morale boosts, in fact they’re really good at breaking you down. If Walmart is open they expect you to work, even if there’s an active hurricane rolling thru and you lost power at home. If you have Covid they will write you up for missing work. If you do too well they will cut you as well because they don’t want to pay out so much commission. The managers will pile work on you with unrealistic goals based on the stores customer demographics and then lambast you when you fall short. It’s a revolving door of employees, I was there five months and every single co workers that was there when I was hired was gone, I was the oldest tenured rep. It’s okay to break rules only when it’s convenient for them and will discipline you otherwise. If they want to talk to you about breaking rules they will call you so that there isn’t a paper trail leading back to them. They don’t work with availability either, either you’re available or you can’t work. If the Walmart machines are down they still expect sales out of you. If the power went out in your store they still expect work from you. I could keep going and going but I don’t want to have an essay here.
