Pros

Coming into this job, I was extremely excited to start a more professional job than those I had in the past. The Lofts was a great place to start especially since that is where I was going to be living for that following year already. Being a Community Assistant at The Lofts really allowed me to grow in some areas. 1. I HATED to talk on the phone and obviously in this job position that is almost all that you do and I got more comfortable doing that. 2. Although I have had to deal with angry customers in the past at other jobs, being a Community Assistant (and having to deal with angry people all of the time) really gave you more practice as to how to deal with them. 3. I believe that this company has a lot of room for growing if you want to stay in this type of field. 4. You can get commission (as long as they actually pay you for it).

Cons

At The Lofts, there have been more cons than anything else. I have worked for plenty of other types of businesses in all different job positions and I have NEVER been as stressed, worn out, frustrated beyond belief, angry at the things that happened, and cautious with everything that goes on. For one, you have to calculate every single hour you are working, every week, of every month since the first day you start. If you do not, they will find a way to screw you over with your hours and you do not have a way to prove them wrong if you don't have the proof of all of your clock ins and outs. You would also think that those in charge of the hours you work would get it right, but in the time I've worked at The Lofts, they have managed to screw up some of my coworkers payments and most of them had to owe them money for THE LOFTS MISTAKE! Never at any of my jobs have I had to be so cautious and calculate every single hour I've worked just so I do not get screwed over like my coworkers did. On top of that, their turnover for Community Assistance is unbelievable. It got to the point to where we had to work 35 hour weeks (keep in mind we are all students) on top of going to school full time and we would get random things sprung on us last minute to where we would have to dedicate more time to work that we do not have. Another big issue here is the management. And not only management in the office, the issues come from Corporate as well. If you have any issues you cannot even get in contact with someone higher up without the office managers knowing. The managers in the office (except for one) also do not like to help us Community Assistants out either. Most of the time we are having to do our managers jobs as well ours because they throw things at us to do left and right due to them having "lack of time" when us CA's stay after hours past all of the managers just to ensure things get done. The sad part is that most of the managers are not willing to help us out despite them knowing The Lofts is not OUR lives because we are going to school and we are just working there for the convenience and the fact we need the money (if we even get paid what we are supposed to). Another huge issue is that there are so many miscommunication with what is and is not allowed to happen at our property and the rules we all need to abide to. And what I mean by this is that we are told one thing is okay and then not even a month later we are told that is something that shouldn't happen and we are expected to know that since we can read the managers minds apparently. I can promise you that if you ask any current employee or even those from the past, they would tell you that both working for The Lofts at Wolf Pen Creek and working for The Scion Group is nothing but a sketchy mess. We also are always told different things about how our pay works (which does not even seem legal the way they are doings things). As a Community Assistant at The Lofts, you are basically expected to be a Superhero. On top of going to school they want you to get leases on top of leases, be a receptionist, help out all of the residents, basically try to get people to sign on the spot (even though nobody in their right mind would do that), take people on tours, do the managers job, deal with angry parents and residents, deliver mail and do packages, clean the whole lobby area (we have a list of at least 20 tasks for 1 opener and also a chore list with at least 10 things on it to do in the morning), and so much more. Honestly, I would never recommend this job position specifically at this property and especially under The Scion Group. It has been more of a burden on my life and I have never been so stressed even when I would work two jobs in the summer one from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM and one right after from 5:30 PM - 10:00 PM. I do not plan on staying at this job for too much longer and I can already imagine the amount of weight that will be taken off of my shoulders. I just wish that The Lofts at Wolf Pen Creek was at least a decent place to work at because it really is a beautiful property and the new General Manager has been doing so much to make this complex nicer for the Residents and us CA's but there are just too many issues higher up in the company and with other managers in the office to make us CA's stay.

Pros

Nothing comes to mind overall

Cons

- Company is far too large and greedy, to see employees as humans. Everyone is just another number. -High stress and low reward job. -Constantly increases work load with no compensation -Extremely high turnover rate due to not training and valuing employees -This company has a shady, corrupt leasing process. They allow college students to sign a lease and by bound to a contract, before even showing proof of financial qualification. This means, this can be held liable for a contract, without being qualified for it.

Pros

Organized for the most part. Loved the fact that they have a fair housing and legal team to contact with questions.

Cons

All about “customer experience” yet they don’t listen to the customers? Cutting all of the social media ad budget in student housing… where most students their time on. Cut employees hours to increase the travel budget for higher employees. Daily fear of retaliation for hitting even a minute of OT or not succeeding well enough. Power washing and a multitude of repairs such as mold remediation was severely needed and upper management did nothing. If your staff keeps quitting, clearly something is wrong. I would never recommend scion to anyone unless major changes were made as a company.
