We acknowledge your feedback regarding the repetitive nature of some tasks. Internships can sometimes involve routine work as part of the learning process. However, we strive to ensure a balance by offering diverse projects and opportunities for interns to explore various aspects of our operations. Pros

Free lunch (unless you travel to a job site where you only get $8 for lunch). The company is trying to fix some of the issues it has, but it has a long way to go especially when it comes to project management.

Cons

I especially would not recommend working here if you are in a high cost of living area. They claim they have an algorithm for determining "competitive" pay but a quick google search for average salary for x job title in x location proves their algorithm wrong. They are always hiring in high cost of living areas because they aren't willing to pay a competitive salary. Also, they do not use GSA rates for per diem. You get the same daily per diem rate for traveling to Oklahoma as you do for California, but of course California is way more expensive so that makes no sense. They even tell you not to leave more than a 15% tip for an expense that's reimbursed. Additionally, there is a six month waiting period before you can enroll in their 401k plan which has a six year vesting period. There are times where you will go weeks without a day off due to a multitude of issues between general contractors and project managers.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We take all reviews seriously as they help us improve our company and address any concerns that may arise. We strive to ensure our compensation packages are competitive and fair, especially in high-cost living areas. We regularly review market data to stay aligned with industry standards and make adjustments as needed. We do, in fact, adhere to the GSA per diem rates (https://www.gsa.gov/travel/plan-a-trip/per-diem-rates/mie-breakdowns) for our travel policies to ensure our employees are adequately compensated for expenses incurred during work-related travel. We acknowledge we have been behind the curve on tipping but will be implementing a change to the tipping policy for 2025. If there was a misunderstanding or an issue with your per diem, we apologize and would like to understand more about your specific situation. Please do not hesitate to contact P&C@thermosystems.com. Regarding your comments about our 401(k) plan, we would like to clarify that our employee handbook states a 90-day waiting period for enrollment, and employees are 100% vested immediately upon enrollment. This is also clearly communicated in our yearly safe harbor notices sent to all employees. We apologize for any confusion and would be happy to provide additional information if needed. We place a high value on our employees' work-life balance. We aim to provide regular time off to all our employees. Due to the nature of our business, there are sometimes instances where there are client needs on the weekends. We do, however, offer flex pay or comp days to compensate for off time worked. If there were any instances where you felt overworked, we would appreciate more details to address this matter appropriately. Training and professional development are critical components of our company culture. We offer comprehensive training programs for our employees at all levels of the organization to ensure they are well-prepared for their roles. If you felt that the training you or your team received was insufficient, we would like to hear more about your experience so we can make necessary improvements. We regret that your experience with us was not as positive as we strive for. We are committed to continuous improvement and would greatly appreciate any further insights you can provide. Please feel free to contact us directly at P&C@thermosystems.com to discuss your concerns in more detail. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!
