Pros

- Learn about different sectors/industries, learn to communicate and synthesize information fast. - Good first job for a few months while you look for other/better opportunities. - You meet a few decent people that are your age and are fun connections to have.

Cons

- It's not what it is marketed to be, HR does indeed write these reviews and overall most people hate working at Cognolink. - A lot of pressure over things you can't control, very repetitive work and a very aggressive management that are at times demeaning and disrespectful. - NY office is the worst office period, we don't have as many clients and it's almost impossible to hit target with certain projects.

Pros

Incredibly talented work colleagues, dynamics office atmosphere, very flat structure, London based management team extremely approachable, great perks (free food, drinks etc.) You will learn an unbelievable amount in a very short space of time, especially if you come from a non business/finance undergrad. Breaking down value chains, leading research efforts on due diligence/ consulting cases for top investors, speaking to CEOs in multiple industries will all become part of the day to day role. Very strong underlying culture of change, enthusiasm, growth and personal progression. If interested in management, you can rise up the ranks very quickly to become a Team Leader with P&L responsibility. Good pay, with a great monthly bonus scheme. London office in a great part of town As business doubles every 2 years, lots of room to move into different aspects of the company. Great exit opportunities after a couple of years. Provide support for CFA etc.

Cons

As shared in some other reviews, learning curve on the research floor does tail off after 1 year or so, day to day work can become a bit repetitive. Probably not suitable for quant-minded graduates, not a lot of financial analysis involved. If you're not looking to be challenged by high expectations and targets, don't come to work here.

Pros

- Great company culture and awesome colleagues. I have yet to meet a single a**hole here (pardon the French), and everyone is genuinely interesting, fun, and intelligent. - Gain exposure to pretty much every industry under the sun. It's easy to go into a 'no research, just cold call people' mindset, but being curious about every project you come across and actually researching/digging keeps the day-to-day interesting. Enormous learning opportunity with the right mindset. - High transparency in terms of performance, feedback, and what it takes to get to the next level. - Company is very aligned in terms of incentives. Everyone from the executive team down to the entry level analyst level is encouraged and rewarded for generating calls. - Rapid growth (the NY office has more or less doubled in size since I joined). This means more opportunities for those who are willing, dedicated, and capable.

Cons

- Monthly targets can at times be stressful, especially if there is client slowdown which you are unable to control (i.e. Private Equity client not looking at deals, Hedge Fund client focused on quarterly earning reports, etc.). - On the flip side, when you're swamped with projects and/or have a few urgent projects come in late in the day, your work-life balance can go down the drain for a few days. - As was mentioned in another review, learning curve slows down from the 9 month - one year mark, unless you want to manage your own teams.
