Pros

A positive environment with incredibly kind people who genuinely care about you, your mental and physical well being, your career path, and your life in general. It’s a very progressive environment that does its best to make everyone feel included. Toast is very LGBTQIA+ friendly, there’s great racial and ethnic diversity, and it is very, very flexible and accommodating for neurodivergent employees. There’s always fun activities to do, and there’s always awesome people to talk to. The Omaha office is a bright open space, filled with natural lighting, free snacks, coffee, soda, tea, etc., and catered meals once a week. The benefits are fantastic. I have GREAT health insurance for the first time in my adult life. And there are so many other great benefits that you wouldn’t even think of that they provide you with. The Restricted Stock Units were also a pleasant surprise, and I’m pretty sure they will be the reason I can afford a house in the ear future. I feel like I have a clear trajectory for my career path for the first time in my adult life, and management and senior management are very encouraging and helpful with getting me towards that goal.

Cons

The training was… rough. I was an external hire for my previous team, and there is a LOT of information to learn. It was 10 weeks of training but you get put on the phones pretty quickly which was intimidating. I wish there were more ways to practice troubleshooting for calls before you start taking them. I feel like some sort of AI customer simulation for training could be very beneficial. Things DO get better after training and you DO learn everything eventually, but the training did not seem long enough. I do know the team I was previously on is working really hard to improve their training process though which I very much appreciate and I can see the improvement in the knowledge of the last few training classes after they graduated from training.
