Pros

Many of the associates I worked with had similar characteristics to myself. We were all outgoing, friendly and got along very well. The employee discount is one of the best perks.

Cons

Some of the managers I had the experience working with used management styles which were faulty. They were incapable of motivating associates.

Pros

Amazing discount, 50% off everything and 40% off sale items, very friendly staff and managers, busy times can be interesting and staff is always ready and willing to support each other

Cons

When the store is slow, man is it SLOW. Clearly not the industry leader or big brand name it was in previous years, business is very slow and customers trickle in by 1 or 2 most mornings. Usually picks up a bit by afternoon but the store is often overstaffed so sales associates are fighting over the same customers and constantly checking up on them which makes customers irritable and snappy with the SAs. A lot of competition for sales, pressure on sales goals and a lot of stealing sales. Overall cons are that work is frequently boring and a lot of sale stealing occurs

Pros

Generally fun and enjoyable work environment. As a fan of the clothes, an employee discount was nice. Non-commission pay lead to much less "in-fighting" and competing against co-workers. I now fold my laundry exceptionally quickly and neatly. If you're up for it and show an aptitude, there are some more interesting things to do in store such as merchandising, mannequin work, etc which are a welcome break from customer service.

Cons

Limited earning potential due to non-commission payscale (Minimum wage. But, then again, it is simple clothing retail so that's pretty much expected). It's clothing retail, as such, you learn to dislike customers in general due to rudeness, cleanliness or a multitude of other reasons. Vacation blackout days and requirements to work on heavy shopping days (ie, boxing day) sometimes coincide exactly with when a student would be able to travel/leave town to visit family etc.
