Company is going bankrupt - run!

Pros

Decent pay, a few good colleagues.

Cons

Constant hiring and firing. New “leaders” coming in constantly that worked for the CEO at his former company. Nepotistic. The company’s financial performance has been horrible and the strategy seems to be throw new bodies into the refineries and hope for the best. Private equity ownership is looking to offload and they can’t because of the poor financials, so they’ll fire anyone at the drop of a hat to save money. Don’t make the mistake I did. This company may or may not survive much longer but it is in a very bad place right now. Look elsewhere

Pros

Strong focus on safety and compliance, which gives the company a solid mission to stand behind. LPS Program has been great. Opportunities to learn about industrial safety operations across various sectors (oil & gas, chemical plants, etc.). Supportive immediate team and approachable direct supervisors. The company offers decent benefits, including health insurance, 401(k), and PTO. Flexible work environment in some departments, especially when leadership is aligned.

Cons

Communication between departments could be more streamlined, especially when manager changes happen. All employees should know of the changes. Most of the time employees are only notified of the big manager changes in corporate Core Values are ignored most of the time. Prefer money over values. Some processes feel outdated or overly manual, which can slow down workflows. Career advancement can be limited unless you're in certain operational roles. Pay may not be as competitive depending on the region or role.
