Pros

Great coworkers, good supportive environment, decent enough pay, fulfilling work. There’s often some trouble getting hours solidified at the beginning, but it doesn’t take long for your caseload to grow. Also, if you’re not getting many hours at first and you have 20+ hours available every week, ask about Total Start!!! It’s a program that basically just gets you more practice and more hours while you wait for your caseload to grow, and from what I’ve heard and seen it is a really great opportunity!

Cons

Pretty high burnout, and honestly I feel like the pay could be a bit better just with how draining and sometimes difficult it can be. I’m considering taking on another job that is less intense so I can have some mental and physical recovery time off of that job while still making the money I need to survive. If I work 40+ hours a week at TS I am making a sustainable amount of money, but I am struggling to swing that many hours there while also being a student. If you’re used to working with kids though, especially kids with varying levels of energy and developmental abilities, you’ll kill it:) ik this is the cons section but overall I like the job a lot and have already recommended it to friends in my field

Company does not care about BTs

Pros

Other experienced RBTs are very helpful when there are no supervisors in the building and a client is struggling. Despite higher level administration ignoring employee concerns, BCBAs are generally helpful.

Cons

Company expects employees to complete unpaid work (cleaning, paperwork, etc) off the clock. Company expects employees to wait around unpaid in between sessions and is unwilling to accommodate employee requests to not have long unpaid breaks. Company does not have policies to protect employees financially in the case of no-shows or cancellations; you get $5 even if you paid more in gas to get there. Company is unwilling to understand why employees expect to be paid more. Pay is lower than average for BTs in the area. I have not received a raise despite acquiring RBT certification. Frequently there are no BCBAs or supervisors at the clinic - only BTs. More hours are frequently promised and then removed from the BT's schedule. Scheduling is extremely disorganized. I have financially suffered since working here and would not recommend this job to anyone looking for a consistent job or work hours. I would not recommend this job if you want an employer that treats you with respect and acknowledges your concerns.
