      Stability in employment; Runs lean staffing, which is good because typically does not lay off during downturns. Making improvements to catch up with benefits of other majors.

      Cons

      Runs lean staffing which means more work for individuals; Lack of growth opportunity; French Company in the USA, which means it is difficult for others besides French nationals to advance beyond a lower management position; targets 80th percentile in industry salary range

      Great learning ground. A fair compensation package. Knowledgeable colleagues who are willing to share their experience along with their wins.

      For a company promoting a collaborative “One Total” spirit , now “One Country” initiative, a common discussion among cultural peers is the reality of a new and dictatorial feel to TOTAL. A common generalization of the French culture is its indifference to input from “outsiders”. Unfortunately, whether they are willing to admit it or not, this generalization is beginning to come to life at the “multi-national” TOTAL SA.
