Not For Me

Pros

I was hired on as a manager trainee Salaried job with no college education required.

Cons

Tower uses the worst of the worst real estate for their branches. The ceiling was leaky and had water spots, the carpet was at least a decade old, their "art" was one of those posters you used to see in elementary school hallways in the '90s that say "perseverance" or "teamwork" and have a motivational picture of an eagle. Other than that the booths are all wood paneling and the walls are white painted cinder blocks. I don't usually have allergies but I was sneezing constantly for my entire time there (keeping mind this is true for both locations I worked in). Tower still uses paper filing. There is not enough time in a day to properly file or clean out or sort files. The company is at least 15 years behind when it comes to technology. I would say 10% of the day was actually selling loans, 90% of the job is collections. I was told several times by my manager that people need to fear me for collecting them. I have to call the customer's job, their references, call every single phone number listed on the account every day until they pay. If they don't have a good reference on file we use a government data base to find potential phone numbers and call those too. I had a customer that had been in the hospital for a week and I was specifically told that I needed to continue calling every day while he was in the hospital until he paid. You never actually knew your schedule. Some nights I would get to go home at 5:30 when we closed, most nights I didn't get to leave until 7:30-8:00. The position is salaried so there wasn't any compensation for working late. Required relocation with absolutely no choice on where or when you're moving. You sign an agreement saying that when you are told to transfer you are required to say yes and are not allowed to choose your location.
