Pros

Ownership, freedom, and accountability. Leadership sets the goals, but how you reach them is up to you. Nobody will stop you from trying something as long as you can back it up with good data and/or reasoning. This creates a culture where everyone trusts each other to make the right decisions. It attracts "doers" who want to make an impact. We push each other to make good choices without any red tape.

Cons

You need to be ok with having your entire process be transparent to the team. You need to be ok having all of your discussions in public channels. (Is this a con?)

Fast moving and flexible

Pros

Trace is a team full of smart, independent, passionate, and creative people. I started out as a contract employee and then came on board full time. I get to have all the creativity, flexibility, and variety I did as a freelancer but with stability and excellent benefits. We’re a distributed team, which works great for me as a parent: I get to control my schedule and make it work for my family. My coworkers inspire me with thoughtful and thorough feedback. And we push each other to create our best work.

Cons

Not really a con-If you are not self motivated, this isn’t the place for you. The work and priorities are fast moving and you need to be flexible.
