Pros

The atmosphere inside Trader Joe's is fun and not very uptight. The customers are surprisingly good for the most part. Pay for the kind of work done is good after you have worked for the company for some time.

Cons

The company is starting to get more "corporate" and less decisions are being made for the direction of each individual store at the store level. Some of the store managers and regionals are great, there are a few though that are really quite bad. That would be okay, but managers and even regionals get shifted around regularly.

Pros

The benefits at Trader Joe's far exceeds that of any other company - including for part-time employees. Hard work is expected, but also rewarded with good compensation and a fair amount of autonomy in making decisions within your area and in interacting with customers. Because of this, employees are motivated to work hard and there is very little attrition.

Cons

Because it is retail, employees must be available to work evening and weekend shifts. It is physically demanding and it is not unusual for crew members to deal with various aches and pains.
