Pros

Good working environment with good people

Cons

Not enough pay for the many hats you have to wear. Also seniority is a non factor.

Pros

Free snacks and drinks and good pay to start of with.

Cons

Communication is terrible. No opportunity to move up. Feels like a money hungry company and all my coworkers feel terrible working especially on the autonomous trucking side.

Pros

Our company is contracted by a subsidiary of a FAANG company from Silicon Valley. Work in the research and development of autonomy the pro being you are making roads safer tomorrow with your work today. Some free snacks.

Cons

Poor management, poor benefits, poor work life balance (12 hour shifts), unlike companies such as Aurora or TuSimple (normally M-F) shifts run 24/7 for no good reason. Can only see your kids on the weekend? Too bad, here's a overnight shift that runs through the weekend. Pay is also the worst in the industry coming in at a massive $9 an hour less than competitors starting pay. Management is completely disconnected or uncaring about the employees here (both drivers and operators are treated like children). Bad apples are rarely fired and the good employees are hardly given proper appreciation.

Pros

Very hard to think of any. Most of the drivers are not very welcoming, and if you don't fit into an ethnic clique, its a cold place. They will promise you its flexible etc etc. But its not at all. The shifts are inconvenient, getting time off for a Drs appointment is impossible under sick leave or annual leave. They will only grant you a shift swap with some awful shift no one else has volunteered to help out with. So, you get boned basically. The pay is ok, but once you factor in the work culture, the absolutely rubbish poorly maintained ancient gas buses that break down continuously, and the general unpleasantness of working with much of the public in Perth (e.g. personal abuse, constant fare evasion, being cut off by other drivers all the time), its hard to any joy in the job.

Cons

Managers are lacking in professionalism. The biggest problem with the managers is that many are former drivers who think everything must be done the hard old way, and new staff just aren't 'tough enough'. They are hard to take seriously because no one who is a good driver becomes a manager, only the ones who think they're better than everyone else and driving a bus is beneath them. So, competence and empathy basically don't come into it. Even the slightest scratches made to buses result in an unpleasant inquisition like 'meeting' involving self-criticism and struggle sessions. Much like a communist dictatorship. Demoralising and humiliating. They have zero concept of modern work practices and professionalism. It was like working in the 1980s. And if you're not one of the 'in' crowd, you're out of luck. The company constantly harasses you and guilts you to do overtime (since they never have enough drivers, due to it being an awful job and being largely unsupported). The driver turnover is very high. The PTA timetables are utterly unrealistic and cannot be kept to. And of course you're expected to radio in any lateness, which means essentially you're on the radio all shift explaining why you're late, which is basically because Perth traffic is shite and the timetables have no fat in them at all. Its a good way to grind down your workforce.

Pros

Good pay! Tons of work available

Cons

They make u work on your days off Mandated and will lose your job if you deny them. They tell you at training that it is a chill 40 hour work week 5 days a week but that's the biggest lie turns out you are demanded to work 6 days a week for 12-15 hour work days no ifs or buts about it. If you hate your family and love being home 8 hours a week then this job is for you!
