Pros

Employee Purchase Program is great, The people you work with usually are great.

Cons

Cost cutting in every single corner they can find. They expect all salary individuals to do the work of 4 people and OT for hourly employees needs to get approved. It's just a brutal work environment and they are doing what they can to survive like everyone else. There just seems to be chaos coming from the people who make decisions... directives change all the time... how teams are bonused or incentivized change all the time and most of the time are not achievable or relevant for most of the members on a team. Trek leadership is filled with smart, capable people... but they are missing the mark. This is supposed to be a fun environment and industry to work in.... but Trek is failing at making it so. Desperation is a stinky cologne, and a lot of people are jumping ship. Specialized bought a ton retail stores trying to keep up and compete with Trek... look at all their job listings... Specialized is in a worse position than Trek is. Which says a lot. It will be interesting to see how things shake out.

Pros

Incredible culture Truly excellent benefits. On-site health clinic, great facilities (a gym, mountain bike trails, yoga studio, cafe, etc.) Great products to be proud of. A good mission. If you get the attention of the right people, you can advance. Engineers are fairly compensated.

Cons

The bike industry is under stress from too much inventory, however Trek specifically felt adrift throughout 2023. Lack of clarity from the top-down in priorities, goals, and crazy staffing decisions led to a significant reduction in headcount. That the company had to lay people off is not an unusual occurrence; Trek has gone through growth spurts and layoff cycles and seems to have normalized this as the cost of growth and doing business. That cannot continue if leadership hopes to retain top talent, and younger talent looking to grow their career at a wonderful company.

To be a middle-aged woman at Trek is to be completely invisible

Pros

Flexible work schedule, discounts on bikes, nice boss

Cons

To be older than 45 at Trek and hoping for a promotion is a pipe dream, no matter how talented, experienced or professional you are. If you are a middle-aged woman you will probably never get beyond data entry; you are completely invisible. Walk around the building and you will see what I mean. Low pay.
