Getting worse in every aspect

Pros

lunch, gym are probably the only one

Cons

It could vary depending on your managers, but to many engineers it is getting worse and worse: tremendous pressures, extreme micromanagement, false urgency, endless design reviews, overtime working, impractical LOE, blaming for every imperfection. Bully and fearing are used to "manage". Engineers are not valued as much over years, which is why so many are leaving, and the products are turning less competitive.

Thanks for your review. I appreciate your candid remarks, although this type of feedback is always tough to read. As you’re aware, the recent launch of our new site and app experience was an all hands on deck effort, and many teams worked tirelessly towards the launch date. I recognize that it has been a stressful few weeks but hoping that you and all TripAdvisor employees are as proud as I am of the new experience that we have delivered to our consumers. Regarding your comments about the managers here, I agree that having an effective manager is crucial to the success of any employee. We absolutely value our engineers and all employees and want to make sure you feel successful and supported. What you have described is not something that I support, and if I were experiencing what you are describing, I would be frustrated and disappointed. Unfortunately, I cannot fix problems that I do not know about, so I encourage you to connect directly with me. Help me understand the situation so I can make meaningful change. Thanks again for your feedback.- Nick Shanny, SVP Engineering

Hellish Place to Work

Pros

Free food and a nice space to work in, that's about it.

Cons

The sales function is as dysfunctional as any place I have ever worked! The lack of vision and amount of micromanagement is astounding. The senior leadership team is amazingly out of touch with what drives a engagement and motives employees to perform at high levels.

Although I am very sorry to hear that your work experience has not been positive, I appreciate the feedback. I would sincerely welcome the opportunity to talk with you in person about your concerns, and to hear in greater detail where we have opportunities to improve. Please send me an email, and I will make sure we get time on the calendar in the near future. Beth Grous Chief People Officer

Pros

No amount of free lunch and perks makes up for the lack of fair treatment and respect. The only pros are good health insurance and some flexibilty.

Cons

If you are young and lack experience you will love this company. If you are an adult and have experience this place will make you insane. Hard work does not pay off here. If you want to move up, find the right froends, it's the only way.
