Pros

Bright friendly helpful people. You will always be challenged to do your best work here and the facilities are second to none. Green workplaces and social awareness thru the company's charitable foundation set the tone. The focus is not simply vacations but travel in a broad sense.

Cons

Terrible location to commute to by car but there are shuttles to public transportation. Long hours in some groups. Bonus is dependent on being there on the payout date. Stock comp is limited to restricted stock for positions below director level..

Thanks for your feedback. I couldn’t agree more with your comments about the friendly team, challenging environment and incredible office space that TripAdvisor provides. And as you allude to in the title of your review, we were recently named to Boston Globe's "Top Places to Work" list for 2016--something we are very proud of. We do have open workstations, but we specifically designed the office to include a wide assortment of flexible seating/ meeting areas that allow employees to work away from their desks as needed. Certainly feel free to take advantage of these areas throughout the floors, in the hubs and in the forum. We understand that our office location can be a challenge for some people, but as you mentioned, many employees utilize our free shuttle service to and from the city. Thanks again for your review and your continued dedication to TripAdvisor. And feel free to stop by and introduce yourself any time. Beth Grous Chief People Officer

Pros

I enjoyed the job, challenging but to the point. I loved the atmosphere at Trip (endearing nickname those of us have given it). Great camaraderie and fellowship with other co-workers. Benefits are a perks, though I was a contract employee. Great long-term place to work. Ability to move up as well.

Cons

Very few cons other than people taking advantage of company perks without really investing in the company itself.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We definitely pride ourselves on several of the attributes that you mentioned- “speed wins”, collaboration, and our start up like environment. As is true in many companies with offices around the globe, communication between teams and offices is crucial and is always an area that can be improved upon. I agree that trust across teams and offices is vital to the success of TripAdvisor. We’re always open to suggestions about how to improve our communication and processes, so please feel free to reach out to me or the leadership in the Palo Alto office with any thoughts or suggestions. -Nick Shanny, SVP Engineering
