Waves of layoffs, clueless management, avoid if you can

Pros

- salaries are *almost* competitive - coffee, some snacks, catered lunch every once in a while - relaxed deadlines and workloads were reasonable - 401k w/ a small match - it was a pretty fun environment with a lot of promise, once upon a time

Cons

- big waves of layoffs occur too often because of a constant shift in leadership and complete lack of business sense. company direction changes constantly. leadership is very opaque to the rest of the employees about the status/health of the company - new CTO clearly has his priorities elsewhere. he oversees/advises several other companies in some capacity which means he can never give his full attention to the company. he has laid of a ton of engineers in favor of bringing in Ukranian contractors. i've been told that these contractors are coming from a separate company which he also runs. seems like a pretty big conflict of interest to me and a pretty shady thing to do - they will underpay you by a lot unless you speak up or threaten to leave - Company peaked after a big deal with the state of NJ. The momentum was completely lost and there was never any follow-up. Should have sold when they had the chance. Truveris is not a unicorn company and will never be close to one. - office was incredibly cramped and several promises of re-locating to a bigger space were never met (although with all the layoffs and outsourcing theres probably a surplus of space now) - seriously feels like leadership is doing everything they can to avoid fixing the core issues while they try to sell themselves for much more than the company is worth. company has lost all momentum and i don't see them getting it back - for a company with an enormous insight into the insurance industry, the employee health insurance plan is pretty bad

A sinking ship

Pros

Started with a unique niche in a promising industry. Has had a great deal of talent over the years who were very passionate about the business. Has made a name in the industry by saving other small businesses money.

Cons

There's been a never ending series of management changes since 2012 that's ultimately led to there being nobody at the C level that actually gives a crap about "adding transparency to the pbm industry". Instead, all management cares about is filling their personal coffers. I'd guess the board and all the executives are desperate to sell the company at this point because all the visionaries are gone, revenue has taken a hit, and the term retention has become buzzword in department meetings. There's a lot of dead weight at the director and higher level and the most recent round of layoffs in July isn't going to magically fix the company, especially considering much of the dead weight is still there. The beating heart of the company is gone and management simply does not have the ability, knowledge, or passion needed to turn the tide. The strongest engineers there say they are underpaid and that others within the organization are overpaid when considering the value they add. The best talent there is one conversation away from either leaving the company or getting a massive raise that's long overdue. The company hasn't developed anything novel in years and has been singing the "cleaning up code" tune for so long it should be considered a bonafied classic. Yawn. Meanwhile the company is falling apart and the life vests have been tossed into the furnace. OneRx was a massive failure that took the wind out of the sails. Oops. The culture used to be pretty awesome until you realize a ping pong table, a dart board, and a stocked fridge doesn't equal a great career. Truveris' glory days are over and management is likely just hoping for a buyout so they can cut and run.
