Pros

I have been with Tuff Shed for 2.5 years and I couldn't be happier here. I have been afforded real growth in my field at this company. This growth has come to me in the form of detailed plan with milestones mapped out in order to set me up for success. My department works very much as a team and that is due to my management and his very hands on approach. Tuff Shed is a company that I feel a part of and a valued member of. The corporate culture is great, I feel comfortable enough to speak with the executives about any problem that may arise. The benefits are well above average. All in all a great place to work!

Cons

I am happy here

Pros

Unlimited overtime as the management is too busy to fix the inefficiencies in production. Average shop worker can make 40-50k per year.

Cons

Work is very taxing on your body. Long hours every day. You cannot go home until all work is done. Very poor training for new employees and subcontractors. The worst tools possible for tuff shed employees. My location was too cheap to purchase even new blades at times as it might put them over their monthly budget.

Response from the Chicago General Manager: Thanks for your feedback. It is apparent with your length of employment that you were very familiar with our Chicago operation. In late 2014, we made some big changes in the management teams and took time to see what was working and what wasn’t. We agree that the shop is the first step in building quality buildings in our customers’ backyards, and have implemented more organization in our planning. This increased productivity and gave our shop a better overall mindset when coming in to tackle the daily workload. Training and better processes were also implemented which has created an improved environment and has cut down on long working hours. - In 2015 we were also very fortunate to add additional in installation crews to handle the increasing field work load. We know we always have room for improvement but believe we are on the right track to further success at Tuff Shed Chicago.
