Pros

Good students, good colleagues, prestige and optimism for the future. Fair salary and benefits. Flexibility and independence as a researcher. Some support for conference travel.

Cons

New Orleans is not a great place to live. The city as a whole is recovering very slowly from the hurricane and it still has a lot of crime.

Pros

Good vacation and sick time, offices are small so you can make an impact, you can take advantage of the interesting events around campus, tuition benefit is great.

Cons

It is difficult to move around the company and networking is required to do so. You must have a masters degree to move up in most departments although this is true of most educational organizations.
