There isn't a lot of room for advancement with a lot of the staff positions. The pay typically isn't as good as it is at universities in other cities, but this is probably the result of pay in New Orleans just being generally lower than other cities. Raises are given annually, but the percentage raise you get is pretty low.

Lack of senior leadership & communication down to staff; poor compensation; few career advancement opportunities. Raises were seemingly untied to performance - as a non-manager, count on making just the minimum 3-4% raise every year regardless of how hard you work.
