      Pros

      Living in New Orleans is a pro.

      Cons

      While they talk a lot about developing an equity/diversity and inclusion policy, so far it is just talking heads spouting the latest research. I have seen no forward progress. No actual visual, physical changes. I am disabled and have gotten nothing but platitudes to address my accomidations.

      Beautiful campus, benefits that include access to higher education, professional development

      I worked at a research-specific institute within the university and the work culture was unbelievably toxic. People in academia have massive egos and it can be really challenging to work with directors who have no real-world experience. Within the institute where I worked there was extreme white-savior mentality, and within Tulane more generally, their commitment to diversity was a byproduct of cancel culture. And the pay is pretty dismal for the amount of work they expect. No one gets a raise unless you're a higher-up.
