Pros

Good amount of leave time. Management is very willing to help young engineers learn the trade. Everyone is friendly and easy going. Most days start at 8 AM and are done by 5 PM

Cons

The pay could be better. I do not have much else to say about cons, but I have to reach a word limit.

Very social with a very team-oriented culture. As an intern I was never afraid to ask questions and the division I was in did a great job of making me feel welcome.

Cons

Depending on the manager, while some were able to work from home one a week or so, the majority of the hours are not particularly flexible.

Great benefits as a state agency; rewards for being industrious, increasing efficiency, having a good attitude and being a supportive team player. Contribute to the team and you'll do well.

Cons

Administration's culture is to hold information, which negatively affects morale. Turnover at the Executive Director level the past several years is disappointing, and negatively impacts the agency. Past administration created too many chief positions and redundancy of services between divisions. Get back to basics, support the field and front line employees where roads are being built and maintained.
