Good people, variety of positions open at lower levels, good training, good benefits, good work life balance for most positions

Cons

Controlling and criticizing management in Dallas District. Favoritism in Dallas District rampant. Mid and upper level job vacancies often decided before job posting - creating bad morale, rumors, etc.

Great Benefits, most of the people there care about their job. Learning new things on a regular basis. Great Job.

Cons

"good ole boy" system, If you disagree with any decision or haven't been there 10 years your opinion goes out the window.

Pros

It was a government job so secure.

Cons

Lack of advancement opportunities, high cost of benefits, boring, lack of work. Outdated technology and aged infrastructure made progress slow. With the 9.5% mandatory retirement withdraw and zero overtime (had to work it, just didn't get paid for it) the before tax take home was below the HUD limit for being defined as low income.
