Pros

The people who work there are great for the most part. The company is always looking for ways to be the best.

Cons

Compensation is below average, in my experience. Benefits are adequate, but increasingly expensive for employees. Opportunity for pay increases is limited to only the "cream of the crop employees" and steady performance/experience/job knowledge is not valued. Merit increases/bonuses are reserved for the top sales people, regardless of performance in other areas. This means that as long as you bring in new business, it doesn't matter how much money you cost the company with bad decisions.

Pros

There are some opportunities to get useful work experience, and I appreciate getting 4 weeks of vacation a year. The bank trips over spending pennies, but will throw millions of dollars at large projects.

Cons

I hired on less than a year ago. There are large IT projects about to fail badly. Very few employees who have been around for more than 4 years, which just astounds me!!! Projects move along so slow you spend 90% of your time retraining people replacing those who got fed up and left. No one seems to view the bank as a place to spend a career, unlike other perm jobs I've had, most of the coworkers were life time career employees. I wish I would have found this site before I accepted the job offer.

Pros

The work/life balance is good. Management understands that there is always tomorrow and that nothing in banking must happen today. The bank is also rather stable. In my time here, I have not seen anyone laid off or fired. That is an accomplishment in todays financial environment.

Cons

Compensation is pretty poor. There has been talk about improving it, but so far I have not seen any thing that would make think it will. The competency of the management varies greatly. I have had two managers in my time here and one was great and the other is terrible. From talking to other people, this is the norm. Some managers are great while others you avoid with everything you got.
