A solid career but only if you can tolerate the mismanagement
Pros
Opportunities around the world Can try new teams or units every year May not seem like it but we do stop criminal organizations and terrorists Good pay Good benefits Most coworkers are fun to work with Once you go home you do not take work with you Very diverse workforce Has been innovative the last few years
Cons
Treated liked a child The laziest officers get promoted Government red tape Micro management Redundant training and pointless policies (all gov.) Can be boring quickly if stuck in a unit Work holidays and weekends Can be a long time to get a m-f schedule Management out to get you Your coworkers can not be fired when they should have been Forcing you to do overtime a lot and if you do not want it there is no choice Forcing to go to border and they do not care about your excusals. They do not care about you at all - One officer had a 2 week old and they denied the excusal to not go to border. Another had a parent dying of cancer out of state they denied the officer's transfer.
