Pros

Very smart people, worldwide reach. Tremendous amount of opportunity throughout the globe. Hard to compare current compensation practices given the bonus meltdown happening throughout the industry. Employees, particularly those with ambition, are generally well respected. Huge upside on current stock price - doesn't help those with underwater stock otions though.

Cons

Trouble focusing on mission - can't decide if it is a high end wealth manager or a retail shop. Difficulty communicating overall big picture to field. Morale is very low at the field level, although it tends to improve as you move up the pay scale (the slashed bonuses will have an impact there).

Pros

career ops etc, known brand, friendly HR well in the beginning atleast.

Cons

too much time at work, not respected among banks, general chaos of the last two years, lack of communication, waste of talent. There is no point in working 20 hour days when you actually do nothing. The value placed on face time is a bit silly. Morale was generally low, people leaving or being fired, code of conduct is just rubbish, and the coffee is awful. bad sandwiches too, not that those stayed very long.

Pros

It offers good opportunity and the ability to work throughout the globe. There are a lot of good people that work there. The Stamford office offers a nice opportunity to not be forced into the city.

Cons

We work in Stamford, CT which isn't my favorite city. The development process can be quite slow. the workforce cuts can be sharp and not always make sense. the firm is too worried about its wealth management business to take advantage of opportunities in other businesses.
