Pros

Health care coverage. Insurance options. A lot of staff are wonderful to work with and care passionately about the students enrolled.

Cons

Cost of living in this area is much higher than staff wages, especially for those on the bottom of the ladder. And there is no way to get a raise or climb the ladder without having to change jobs. Opportunities to really shine at your job are very limited so consequently you are stuck at the "does the job as expected" level and are expected to be happy about that. Sadly, favoritism is alive and well.

Pros

lower stipend to reflect lower cost of living but you’re living in riverside so is it even worth it?

Cons

you’ll be so overworked as a grad student that you won’t have time to do anything outside of school. thankfully there’s nothing around to do anyways so you might as well keep working
