Pros

Great benefits, involvement opportunities for professional growth

Cons

Unions work to keep administrative positions at the same level salary, making it very difficult to receive a raise for working hard and doing well. You can receive a small raise (most times less than $.50 when you consider raised contribution fees & taxes) when the union negotiates on your behalf, but everyone gets it & does not reflect your true experience or skills. Working at your personal best doesn't get you a higher salary.
