Pros

I have had a good experience working at UCR. The department (Biology) I work in has always been very helpful from an administrative standpoint. Also, I have a great postdoctoral advisor (the postdoc experience is primarily dependent on the relationship between the postdoc and postdoctoral advisor).

Cons

I do not know of any postdocs in my department who have had a bad experience. So there are no cons per say.

Pros

Great research community with global connections at technical universities and National Laboratories. The academic programs are high quality and the students are diverse.

Cons

As with most graduate programs, work-life balance depends on your relationship with your adviser. Choose an adviser who fits you.
