Pros

The work culture is quite nice here and if you enjoy your research, being a postdoc in the UC system has many benefits. The UC postdoc union is quite strong

Cons

The cons are that if you want to have a family then a postdoc salary is the lower limit at which you should be operating. Good thing ofcourse is a postdoc is not meant to last longer than 2 to 3 years really.

Pros

UCLA campus is beautiful. There are good facilities for exercise and opportunities for extracurricular activities. The workload combined with courses is reasonable for most graduate students.

Cons

You are on your own with research. Professors are too busy and outdated to help you. They are generally spending time on fancy presentations instead of original research. Most of them are not open to new ideas either. If you want to get a sense of how they are, just imagine that I know many Full Professors at UCLA who does not know how to check their email. Yeah... It's unbelievable.
