Pros

Great, conscientious nurse colleagues who love nursing and value excellence. Good pay with yearly raises. Flexibllity in scheduling, good benefits including retirement. Lots of opportunities to learn new things and participate in hospital wide activities if you are interested. Referral center for a large area, so patients come to us from all over and appreciate our care and professionalism.

Cons

Big institution. Many requirements such as hourly rounding sometimes seem unrealistic and inflexible. Adversarial relationship between unions and management is disheartening when contract negotiations come up.

Pros

A very diverse group of workers who all care very much and hope that what they do makes a difference in someone's life. whether it is a researcher, someone who cooks, or someone who takes care of patients. everyone here care very much.

Cons

Management has no idea what a great resource they have in their employee's. Workers go above and beyond on a daily basis and are never recognized for their performances or their efforts. Management is concerned with one thing and one thing only the Bottom LINE and that's it. It is a shame too. Ask ay patient care worker what happens when the State comes in for inspection. Ohh the halls are clear, because they put all the spare equipment and beds that usually clutter the hall in the Garden St warehouse or in a semi-truck until the inspection if over and then it's clutter and hazard again in the hallways. Oh don't get hurt at UCSF because they will string you along with BS until you give up on your injury and suffer. UCSF's motto is BS. Caring, NOT Healing Not of employees.
