Pros

Benefits, benefits, benefits. Employees contributes to the pension pool and can save more on retirement ( 403b and 457b ). There are various educational trainings, but there is no career development.

Cons

Limited career growth. Poor management (theory X), no career development track and no investment on current employees. Promotions are based on cronyism instead of performance and meritocracy. The institution is happy when you are at where you are. Focus more on profits instead of recruiting, retaining and building its employees. Lots of "opportunities" for liability issues, wasted resources and lost talents. Low level in team morale and teamwork, low employees recognitions and appreciation (very negative cultures)

Pros

Cutting edge medical research, lots of things to learn and do.

Cons

Long hours to make progress and not a lot of money compared with other places. Lack of efficiency and slow to respond when it comes to new technology. Doesn't like to embrace change. Continuously makes you do the same things over and over without the inclination to find a better method.

Pros

can't really think of any

Cons

i worked in the cancer center i recommend googling your potential supervisor to see if he/she has been involved in lawsuits with former employees, etc. administration lets the docs get away with entirely too much clique-y expect WAY too much of staff. one nurse had a heart attack while she was working. a manager had a miscarriage. totally awful. understaffed and letting patients suffer as a result
