Pros

Bedside -> mandatory Breaks. High Pay. Regulated Ratios. Everything is better once you step inside of here. Mecca. Complicated and interesting patients, will be busy. Tertiary hospital. Different campuses Parnassus, Mission Bay (newer but oncology and women's health/peds), Mount Zion with plenty of job opportunities and growth for inpatient + outpatient

Cons

Parnassus campus is old, tight ICU spaces, and if your coworkers never worked anywhere else, they'll have that crappy entitlement view. Pension isn't free/traditional (7% of paycheck). Health insurance isn't free, can be costly 200$ biweekly. Parking not free 20-30$/day.

Pros

Incredible diversity with cases and staff. UCSF is a very special place in-regards to acceptance for everyone which is a wonderful.

Cons

No education funds, expense parking, forced to float to 5 different locations after the schedule is made within a 12 hour notice, and no overtime.

Pros

- Good health/retirement benefits - Internal mobility, telecommuting, pay, etc. really depends on department - Most people are very understanding + nice - Managers really depend on department but mine have all been pretty good - Great “mission”, lots of cool things coming out of UCSF

Cons

- Boring work, stagnant - High stress, low impact due to nature of healthcare - Low pay, low morale - Favoritism depending on department - Unionized jobs get treated extra poorly…you will lose great people and staff - Large, matrixed organization tons of red tape
