Pros

Great benefits, you directly effect patients and their families by explaining and resolving hard to understand situations. You can really make a difference in patients lives.

Cons

Too much red tape. There are many unions which means there are two types of people working there....entrenched employees who sit around all day doing no work and the other employees who do ten times the work (who make the difference in people’s lives). This leads to bad morale and extreme burn out. Plus, the rumor mill and gossip run rampant and with the no cost of living increases and bonus programs being done away with, the morale plummets to toxic.

Pros

Quality of the care, the people, the commitment to serving others. It's the best in class in every way, and people support each other here in carrying out the mission. Great work environment.

Cons

Like every place in the Bay area, it's expensive to live here. The work is hard, and there are more patients who want to get care here than there is space available. Everyone feels the pressure to do more and do better. But we all buy into that.

Pros

Decent pay for nursing students to earn some pocket money. Got to see interesting cases and work along amazing RNs who became lifelong friends/mentors.

Cons

Management!! This particular unit put a person who doesn’t know a thing about interpersonal communication in a management position. He is truly the most awkward individual who doesn’t how to interact with other human beings yet alone run this department effectively and professionally. Due to him (primarily), this unit lost many amazing RNs. It’s sad to say that to this very day, he is continues to be an assistant manager ....
