Pros

If you manage to get a set schedule then that can help in balancing your work and home life. Also, pay is probably the best. Benefits and pensions are a plus.

Cons

From management, to coworkers, to customers (and those include other UCSF employees from other departments)...this has been one of the worst places to work for. They expect us to take verbal and emotions abuse and when those actions are reported, you get told your job isn't as stressful as their job or they tell you to still be warm and smile and to suck it up. Yet, there is no way ANYONE would be able to take that abuse and continue to smile. No support, toxic and lazy people get away with everything. They push the hard workers to do more and it's not right.

Great benefits, good people, poor management

Pros

The benefits are great. If you live in the city, they have shuttles from just about everywhere in town, making your commute pretty easy. And, most of the people you work with are going to be nice, decent people. Once you're in, you're set. You can leave for 20 minutes every two hours to move your car and no one bats an eye.

Cons

Plain and simple: the bureaucracy. There are so many layers of management and so little communication between them. And, you wonder why the hospital even needs half the managers when one of them can leave for a month and everything keeps on ticking. Lastly, and this may have been limited to my manager, but their was absolutely zero guidance or assistance.

Pros

you can leave at 5pm. no one really works, so you if you're a lazy SOB, this is a great place to work.

Cons

no one does anything....so the few people who do any work are treated like slaves.
