Mandate in flux

Pros

Unrivaled access to ministries, some leading minds in the field, and to build an understanding of the dynamics of programming in a large bureaucracy and complex environment.

Cons

Waning reputation with donors; belief that salary and known risks are substitutes for guidance in managing those risks and to devoting life to work in conflict environment, or for any semblance of work-life balance; attracts people in it for the money rather than the impact; decision-making is virtually non-existent, especially where it matters; impossible to manage staff based on results.

Great place to work at

Pros

It's a friendly place, I felt myself very welcome, people there seem to like helping the others. I worked there for 3 years and I couldn't notice rivalry between the staffs. It's a diverse and respectful place.

Cons

People have different types of contracts and benefits even when they have the same amount of responsibility/liability and workload, it means that one person can ear a different monthly salary doing exactly the same work that others in the team. It's very unstable, most of the contracts are for specified period, they can renewed but it isn't so assured. Also, there isn't career path, the salary can increase each year, but if you aren't interested in apply for others positions, you can go on retirement at the same position that you started, can you imagine retire as an assistant?
