Pros

Steady employment; job security; low stress workplace. Job satisfaction is largely based on supervisor. I have three supervisors: 2 good, one "out-to-lunch"!

Cons

No chance for advancement in my department; No merit or any raises in more than 3 years; when advancing salary is restricted by "15% rule".

Pros

Always busy, plenty of work to do, immediate supervisors tend to be attentive, make a difference in patients' lives. Little chance of layoffs, job security is fairly high. I would recommend to a friend WITH reservations-- would make the cons clear before recommending UNMH.

Cons

Low paying jobs, extremely rare raises, and no room for advancement AT ALL. Immediate supervisors are unwilling to take a stand against higher levels of management, stressful work environment, staffing is a constant issue, often times you must take on several work loads due to scheduling mishaps, mixed messages about OT, some patients are horrendous, chance of getting attacked my insane people (not a joke-- very serious).
