Pros

There is opportunity to learn various levels of Technology solutions both for UPS and for your customers . Continous and on going training in the shpping field as well as products and services. Knowledge to be gained on the world wide International stage as the world changes; both import and export.

Cons

It seemed to me the lack of following their own UPS company polices,- covered in 2 handbooks.Particularly in business pratices; changing the rules to make the sale numbers , or get the promotion. An overall lack of integrity internally particularly in the area of ;a lack of Human Resource ,professionalism, inappropriate conduct and questions . People being promoted although it appeared they had numbers - cheated, then cover up by management to save their appearance. Toxic environment back biting, gossip ,coupled with ambiguity , mixed messages, lack of open honest communication although they purported the opposite as well as favoratism towards those who went along with the manipulations. To a certain extent a type of brain washing about UPS the brand and discrimnation if you did not go alongwith every thing they proposed not business related and being a UPSER, what was required. i.e. being forced, it felt like to donate when you either didn't beleive the cause of didn't have the extra money to give.

Pros

8-5 hours. No weekends.

Cons

No facial hair. You do not get paid enough for what you are doing. DO NOT MOVE FOR THE JOB!! I personally sit next to a gentleman who was working at a cellphone provider and moved to SA for the job. He hates the decision he made. You make more money at the cellphone provider, times 2! UPS pumps this job up to be great but if you have ever made over $50K you will hate yourself for taking this job.

Pros

This is a good part-time job for those who are still in school and those who don't like working retail or customer service jobs. They have multiple shifts (ex. Twilight, Night, etc.) so there are ways to work around your busy schedule. You receive health, vision, and dental benefits. Also, package handlers and drivers are apart of the Teamsters union.

Cons

This is a strenuous job and you will be sweating. Keep hydrated. Take it easy the first couple of weeks, let your muscles adjust and don't over do it or you may get injured. Be prepared to deal with minor bruises and scratches from the job. Work environment is noisy and dirty (very dusty, wear a mask and gloves). Low pay, especially the first couple weeks when you are paying off the Union initiation fee. After taxes and union fees expect to take $100-$200 a week.
