Pros

I worked for UPS Express Critical. A department within UPS Supply Chain Solutions. Very fast paced environment. Always something new to learn regardless of your experience level. Good people in this organization.

Cons

I was always too busy with day to day operations to give my employees the career development I think they deserved. Always too busy with day to day operations to give my attention to projects I wanted to accomplish. 55 to 60 hours per week left me with little energy to accomplish anything extra.

Pros

Decent benefits. Overall, the company means well.

Cons

Incompetent management, absolute laggards in technology and overall business practices. Immobilized by the fear of litigation. Tremendous waste of time and resources by over-engineering ancillary processes to death. Tremendous lack of creativity, dearth of intellectual capital, and just awful people skills.

Pros

With UPS (Big Brown) behind the management, they RARELY make mistakes in a business that does not forgive mistakes. IF something goes wrong, they tell the customer before the situation comes crashing down on them (the customer). UPS is a VERY straight but at the same time aggressive and assertive in the most competitive service businesses in the world. They run a lean well equipped team of drivers who are well trained with lots of experience, some with over 30 year and most over 15.

Cons

You have to be smart enough to protect your company’s interest, exercise good judgment, BE safe, and stay focused; there are no free rides or long breaks. Management expects explanations for untimely performance and ESPECIALLY service failures. They do not except lame excuses, they do not tolerate unprofessional behavior. They remind you daily that the UPS gold shield has over 100 years of good reputation and GOD help the person who tarnishes that shield... That to me is more of a warning than a "CON". In the old west they had a saying if you were a ranch hand. If you were loyal and good, it was said “You rode for the brand" that is the outfit whose brand was on the cattle. UPS demands you ride for the brand.
