Pros

Good work-life balance and great benefits. Many opportunities all around the world. Relatively low stress. Flexible hours and good people everywhere. Pretty good retirement.

Cons

It is difficult to advance and annual raises are minimal. In other words the ceiling is a bit low in the government.

Pros

Employees are able to contribute to the national defense. The Air Force Research Laboratory has considerable flexibility in work projects for people who are proactive in finding them. Opportunities for women are opening up in combat-related fields.

Cons

There are low salaries, and some age and gender discrimination, though gender discrimination is easing as more women enter executive and management positions.
