Pros

Excellent leadership, intelligent NCOs (forecasters have to be smart), huge responsibility (weather support of DOD installations) placed on airmen, a chance to mix creativity with science/ officers, enlisted, and civillians working side by side, training translates to most high paying civilian weather jobs, - WAY more training and responsibilities than Marine and Navy forecasters. Army doesn't have the asvab scores to create a weather field so USAF takes care of them too.

Cons

Pay is very low compared to civilian forecasters, weather can be affected by many so variables that excellent forecasts can be ruined,

Pros

Incredible mission, great people, responsibility given early. Very satisfying and rewarding with adequate compensation. Great opportunities to see the world and how great the USA is in comparison.

Cons

Up or out promotion system results in losing some of the best and brightest at their prime. Excessive change of duty stations can be disruptive. Communication from leadership can be diluted as it works its way down the levels.
