Pros

Extremely competitive pay and benefits. Promotion system is easy to understand and mostly fair. Plenty of travel opportunities. Free education.

Cons

Shift work may be mandatory depending on job and location. Involuntary travel sometimes mandatory. Some locations less than desirable. MUCH LESS focused now on caring for employees then 10 years ago.

Pros

Leave, health care costs are nil, retirement at 20 years, occasional international travel opportunities and great support for families during wartime

Cons

Long hours, away from home a lot, the opportunity to get shot at by people who hate freedom loving americans is a drag

Pros

DoD Military Service can challenge you to grow and exceed your original expectations about yourself. USAF is the best of the services, as the leadership is much more focused on supporting their people. Housing for low ranking members exceeds all ather services, as does common sense provided by supervisors. Most USAF bases are like small towns - Mayberry. Great places to raise a family if that is your goal.

Cons

Military service simply isn't for many people. At the lower ranks, you must subjegate your personalty and are expected to "shut up and color". Current events that are negative involve the upcoming removal of Law Enforcement skills training. Those duties are being transfered to DoD civilian police, and those new kids entering will never get the traing to be a cop on the outside if that was their goal.
